Technical Artist (Rigging)

As a Technical Artist specializing in rigging, I have developed a variety of tools for Maya aimed at streamlining technical tasks, automating processes, and enhancing productivity in production environments. On this page, I showcase some of these tools, along with examples and descriptions of their functionalities.

Custom Tools Developed:

Here are some of the key tools I have developed, each designed to address specific production challenges and improve the efficiency and quality of workflows in Maya and Unreal Engine. Below you will find a brief description of their main features and intended use.

– Chain Splitter: Utility for dividing a joint chain into multiple segments, streamlining the process of creating and adjusting skeletal hierarchies for characters and props.

– Check Scene: Automated scene validation tool that reviews the Maya scene before uploading it to the project server, helping ensure asset consistency, cleanliness, and adherence to pipeline standards.

– Colour Picker: Tool for quickly changing the colours of controls and joints, improving visual organization and selection efficiency in complex rigs.

– Joint Position Saver Tool: Script for saving and restoring joint positions, designed to facilitate skinning workflows by allowing easy joint pose resets without the need for animation keys.

– Nanites Tool: Utility to extract the global position of joints, enabling seamless data transfer and blueprint creation within Unreal Engine 5.

– Rename Tool: Comprehensive renaming tool that allows bulk renaming of any type of object in Maya, with options to add suffixes, prefixes, and perform advanced name modifications for efficient scene organization.

– Selection Tool: Tool for saving and managing selection sets, allowing users to quickly recall and manipulate specific groups of objects during the production process.

– Autorig: Fully automated rigging system capable of generating complete rigs with customizable options, significantly speeding up the rigging process and allowing for character-specific adjustments.
